Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities: To facilitate the provision of stroke services to the population of North Yorkshire It is expected that the postholder will participate fully in future service developments in line with national targets and locally commissioned improvements. To contribute to inpatient stroke service delivery by participation with colleagues in: Hyper-acute care including thrombolysis, Acute care, Rehabilitation Provide a stroke consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust Outpatient care of patients Provide a medical input and work in conjunction with consultants and nursing colleagues to help develop stroke services for North Yorkshire. This should integrate multidisciplinary team working and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance. To participate actively in both Stroke Service and Trust clinical governance and audit Undertake continuing medical education. Supervise and train junior medical staff as appropriate. Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as appropriate. Participate in the management of the stroke service. Person Specification Full GMC Registration MBBS or Equivalent MRCP or Equivalent CCT in General Medicine or Neurology as well as CCT in Stroke Medicine (or within 6 months of receipt) Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a wide range of problems in adult medicine including stroke (acute and rehab). Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients. Ability to participate in the smooth running of stroke medicine services. Ability to participate in and lead a multidisciplinary team balancing specialty and generalist objectives. Ability to contribute to development and implementation of services. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets. Experience in supervising trainees Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems Experience of conducting clinical audit.
